Study and investigation of possible ways to increase the yield of a recombinant protein has constantly attracted the attention of researchers. Thus, many techniques have been developed to obtain a highly efficient and economical product in the last three decades, with the advancement of science and technology. In the meanwhile, bacteria have been identified as the most economical microorganisms for the expression of recombinant proteins. On the other hand, the many benefits of Escherichia coli have made it a valuable organism for the production of recombinant proteins.

The Bacterial Research Group is using Escherichia coli as a tool to make recombinant proteins. Over the past ten years, the group has been able to eliminate many of the problems with the production of this growth factor in the form of recombination, including genetic and environmental problems. Significant progress has been made in increasing hbFGF expression in recent studies. We can mention the optimization of hbFGF expression conditions at the fermentor level and the design of high-frequency purification processes following the valuable results obtained from the future plans of the Bacterial Research Group. The groups long-term goal is to produce a semi-industrial basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) for recombinant human play with a purity of at least 95% for pharmaceutical use.
